Check In Question: What job would you be terrible at?
- Miranda: My answer and Lysithea’s answer are the same – professional athlete.
- Liz: My answer is the same as Octavias – anything involving math.
- Kevin: Anything art related. Gobbles probably would not want to do anything involving math.
- Justice: An office manager, anything involving organization. Abn Awaa Ruh would be terrible as a lawful deity.
- Ian: Both for me and the Professor, having a desk job, working in a cubicle. Water cooler talk is frightening to the Professor.
- Cordelia: Surina would be bad at motivational speaking.
When we last left the party, Gobbles, Surina, and Lysithea had followed a very enthusiastic scout and his protector into an unknown tomb. It was discovered that this is the tomb of the jackal whose influence has given the party a bit of trouble. The scout ended up being pulled away after a spell trap was activated, and the party is venturing further into the tomb in an effort to stop the chaos god from being unleashed upon the world.
We begin with Professor and Octavia, who remained on Rouge Hareng’s boat when their teammates left for the tomb, even though Biante, the snake-bird messenger, warned them about the danger that was about to be unleashed from said tomb. The creature reappears in front of Professor and Octavia.
Biante: Did I speak a different language earlier? This is important. Your group needs help.
Octavia: No, but we didn’t really understand the context.
Biante will not answer any questions about the task at hand. He just keeps repeating himself.
Biante: Go help now. Go help now.
Octavia: Go where help now?
Biante: To a temple that has just been unsealed in the desert.
Octavia: A direction? Anything. North, south, east, west?
The bird will not answer and just flies away. Rouge Hareng walks on deck carrying supplies.
Rouge: Why are you two still here? Professor? Marianne? Your other group left.
Octavia: It’s Octavia… Do you know which way they went?
Rouge: Yeah, they said they were helping this junior explorer and this other dragon-looking thing. Kind of like Surina, but he was emerald. But back to the point!
Rouge points Octavia and Professor in the direction that Gobbles, Surina, and Lysithea went off in, providing shockingly helpful and accurate details.
Professor: Let’s go there!
Octavia: Let’s do it!
The two very quickly trek through the desert, coming up to a huge pile of sand with an open door in the middle. They see where the scarab key was entered to open the door, come across the secret door in the wall that Gobbles conveniently propped open so that they wouldn’t get sealed inside. There’s zombie bodies spread on the ground everywhere, with pools of poison that they had sprayed.
Professor: Woah!
Octavia: Something did happen here. Look at that.
Professor: I think I stepped in it.
Octavia: Watch where you walk. Oh no, my shoes!
There’s a giant boulder that looks like it was pushed off to the side with relative ease.
Octavia: Does this look familiar to you, Professor? This looks familiar. Like someone we know did that.
Professor: I don’t know. It must have been a giant or something.
Octavia: It was a very strong creature.
They continue through the tomb and find themselves standing at the entrance of a grand temple. This temple, which looks very similar to all the other temples they have been in, looks ancient but still perfectly intact. There’s no ruins or defilement, and the doors are wide open. They step through the doors quietly and sneakily and come to the antechamber with the sarcophagus on a pedestal and a broken staff on the ground. They find the stairs leading down, where they can hear combat coming from.
Professor: Oh boy.
Octavia: Do you hear that?
Professor: We should probably leave, huh?
Octavia: I don’t know. I don’t want to fight, but I guess we should help our friends. Cause that was Surina back there. I totally saw the claw print in that rock. Should we go down and help them?
Professor: Fine…
While they were discussing the sound of combat ends and they hear a sigh of relief coming from down the stairs.
Octavia: Oh good, I don’t hear anymore clanging. Sounds like the perfect time to join.
They walk down the stairs to the room with the party. They see mummy parts on the ground, and a new addition to the group – an emerald Dragonborn. Just as they enter the room filled with sand the ground begins to quake. A giant sand-hand rises from the ground, just like in the room with the sarcophagus…
Octavia: What in the green woods is that?
Lysithea: GET OUT OF THE WAY!
The hand has one target – Patrin, the Dragonborn. The sand engulfs Patrin and starts to pull him down. He begins to struggle in an effort to free himself, fighting as hard as he can as he gets pulled down.
Octavia: Oh my gods! Get that kid! (athletics 25)
Octavia rushes over, aided by Surina, and starts pulling Patrin out of the sand. They are all fighting hard, when suddenly another blast of sand erupts from the ground (dexterity save Gobbles 4, Octavia 12, Lysithea 16, Surina 17, Professor 2) knocking everyone but Lysithea and Surina to the ground.
Lysithea: I hate this place.
Octavia has been knocked to the ground, but Surina still has a grip on Patrin. She pulls with all her might, but more hands of sand surround them and pull Patrin under.
Octavia: Oh dear. We lost the new guy! I didn’t even get to say hello.
Lysithea, seeing that there is no danger for the moment, takes some time to catch Octavia and Professor up (see Session 30).
Lysithea: … And we are in the jackal temple.
Professor and Octavia finally take a good look at the images on the wall, which are all of a jackal figure giving gifts to different monsters.
Lysithea: So we’re in the jackal’s temple and this child, I say child but he’s a teenager, was about to unleash it upon the world, and then he got swallowed up by sand just like that Dragonborn did just now.
They all take a deep breath and look around the room, which is filled with open sarcophagi and sand. There are double doors with scrawled writing in Deep Speech, which Lysithea can read. She reads the words aloud.
Lysithea: Sealed within is the temple of the Chaotic Trickster. We sealed him here to protect the land. This is of his creation.
As Lysithea reads the Deep Speech out loud the dagger in her bag begins pulsing with energy. In her mind she hears a voice and she feels that she now knows a new spell. Gobbles pokes Thistle on the head.
Gobbles: Hey, Thistle, is this one of your friends?
Thistle: N..n.. No…
Thistle’s voice sounds very worried, but his resolve is firm.
Gobbles: Sweet.
Thistle: But we can do this! Let us once more unto the breach!
Gobbles: Yay!
Thistle is shaking as he speaks.
Gobbles: *singing* Head massage from a dragon!
Professor approaches the double doors made of stone to inspect them before opening (arcana stonecunning 15). For how ancient this temple is, these doors feel like they were just made. They are in perfect condition and definitely magical; however, the magic is weakening on the doors. Professor very slowly pushes the doors open. Torches magically light in the room the doors open to.
Lysithea: I think I should also mention that the temple is alive…
Octavia: Somebody get me a pickaxe.
The party is standing in the doorway preparing to enter when the shadows in the next room condense into a form, which begins to cackle. The form takes the shape of a jackal holding a giant staff (Professor araca stonecunning 23) with 8 different colored gems in the center.
Jackal: *cackling* Welcome! I’m not at my full power yet, but this will be fine as I’m condensing my power.
He slams his staff on the ground and from the staff 2 Fire Bolts shoot out at Professor and Gobbles. Professor protects himself by casting Shield, but Gobbles gets hit for 2 damage. The jackal form begins to flicker in and out of existence. He taps his staff on the ground and the form dissolves into sand. (Arcana Professor 12, Lysithea 11, Octavia 11, Surina 18, Gobbles 5) Surina notices that this was just a projected image of the jackal, not the actual form.
Lysithea: Okay, so the bad news is there he is. He is here. The thing that has been causing us trouble since we began our adventures. The good news is he’s not at full power yet so I think we need to move quickly.
Gobbles: And the power of the door was weakening so us opening it and letting it loose would have happened anyway so it’s not our fault.
Lysithea: It would have happened anyway. At least we’re here to try and stop it.
Temple Exploration Continues
The party enters the room where the jackal form was previously standing (Initiative Gobbles 21, Octavia 10, Lysithea 20, Surina 14, Professor 15). In the room are two wooden doors, one gated door, and one statue of a suit of armor. Gobbles scurries up to the statue, clambers onto it, puts his face into its face and stares straight into its eyes. Inside the statue’s armored helmet is the face of a jackal (investigation 10). Gobbles notices that one of the eyes is not like the other and plucks it. When he plucks the eye he hears a click.
Gobbles: I either did something really good or really bad!
Lysithea: At least it was you and not the scout!
Lysithea cautiously enters the room and, doing her best Surina impression, walks up to one of the doors and knocks on it. As her fist makes the first knock (athletics 17) a mouth opens up on the door and Lysithea jumps back in fright.
Lysithea: See! This place is alive!
Octavia: Oh, I’m sick to my stomach.
Surina: It’s a mimic!
The mimic door tries to grab onto Lysithea again, grappling her and dealing 8 bludgeoning damage. (Gobbles perception 23) Gobbles is still staring into the face of the statue so he doesn’t notice that the sword in the statue’s scabbard is actually a mimc. The mimic latches onto Gobbles’s leg, dealing 4 damage.
Gobbles: I need an adult!
Gobbles aims his hands at the mimic and pops 2 Confetti Eldritch blasts at it (attack 2, adjusted 20). The first attack misses, but the second one hits for 4 damage. Lysithea struggles (athletics 19) and frees herself from the mimic’s grasp and takes a couple of steps back. She angrily fires a Fire Bolt at it (attack 16) for 16 fire damage. The first mimic moves forward and grapples Lysithea again, hitting her for 6 bludgeoning damage. Professor sees a door chasing Lysithea and part of a statue wrestling with Gobbles. He runs into the room and casts Arcane Weapon on his crossbow. He shoots at the mimic grappling Lysithea (attack 7) but misses as it chases after her. He shoots Fire Bolt at the same mimic (attack 10), but still can’t hit. Professor then sends out his homunculus servant, which shoots at the same mimic (attack 15) for 5 damage. Surina runs into the room, but keeps her distance from any walls or objects, worried that they might also be mimics.
Surina: I don’t know if those are mimics or not. That’s why I’m staying at a safe distance!
She swings her sword at the mimic grappling Lysithea (attack adjusted 20), hitting the mimic for 5 damage. Unfortunately, her sword is now stuck in the mimic! She summons her strength (athletics 19) and pulls her sword free of the mimic. Octavia strategically positions herself and shoots at the mimic holding onto Gobbles (attack 19). Her arrow pierces the mimic for 5 damage. She shoots it again (attack 17) for 9 more damage, taking out a piece of the mimic. The mimic bites Gobbles, but Gobbles casts Shield to protect himself. Gobbles wiggles and struggles, but he cannot get free of the mimic’s grasp, so he fires 2 more Eldritch Blasts (attack 8, 19). One of the blasts hits the mimic for 7 damage. He then tries Compelled Duel on the mimic grappling Lysithea, but the mimic is content with its captive. Lysithea struggles and tries to free herself from the mimic, but she is unable to. She puts her hand on the mimic and shoots another Fire Bolt at it (attack 17) for 15 fire damage. The mimic pulls Lysithea in closer and bites at her, but she’s able to avoid its mouth. Professor fires his arcane crossbow at the mimic (attack Nat 1) but the arrow does a loop-de-loop and sticks sideways to the mimic. He then shoots Fire Bolt at it (attack 18) for 16 fire damage.
Professor: Go, my son!
The homunculus servant fires at the same mimic (14) for 5 damage, killing the mimic which falls off of Lysithea.
Lysithea: Oh, thank goodness! Goodbye forever!
Surina: That’s my line!
Surina runs up to the mimic still holding Gobbles and lunges her sword at it (attack 24) for 10 damage. Her sword gets stuck in the mimic (athletics 18), but she pulls it free and stabs at the mimic again (attack Nat 1). She hits the mimic, but with the flat side of her sword, which gets stuck again. Octavia moves further into the room and shoots 2 arrows at the mimic (attack 22, 12) for a total of 22 damage. Her arrows piece the mimic, which falls down dead, releasing its grip on Gobbles.
Lysithea: Surina, from now on I’ll let you knock on all the doors. You’re better at it than I am, apparently.
Professor uses one of his Prayer Beads to cast Cure Wounds twice on Lysithea, healing her for 20 points of health. Gobbles uses Lay on Hands on himself, recovering 4 health, and on Surina, giving her 5 health.
Lysithea: That’s better. Thank you Professor.
The party now sees an outcove where the door mimic once was, with 2 ornate boxes inside. They also see that a secret panel has been lifted, a result of Gobbles removing the eye from the statue.
Octavia: I don’t want to touch anything.
Lysithea uses Mage Hand to open one of the boxes, with Gobbles standing in front of her with his shield raised. The lid pops open and the box is filled with 5 potion bottles. Lysithea cautiously Mage Hands the potions over to her, with Gobbles poking each one as they float past to make sure they are not secret mimics. (Arcana Gobbles 22) Even though the bottles look old, they look like very well preserved Potions of Greater Healing. Each party member takes one of the potion bottles and stores them for safe keeping. Professor walks further into the outcove and finds another statue. This statue is holding a shield in one hand, and raising a sword into the air with the other hand. Professor actively inspects the statue (investigation 17), and sees that the arm looks like it is on a hinge. He jumps up, puts all his weight into it, pulls the arm down, and another *click* is heard.
Professor: Hey guys, I think I messed up.
And then the mimic grapples onto to Professor, dealing him 9 damage.
Professor: You have GOT to be kidding me! I hate this place! Help me, my son!
The homunculus servant shoots at the mimic (attack 16) for 5 damage. Surina runs up and swings her sword at the mimic (attack 15), hitting for 5 damage. Octavia moves into the outcove and shoots twice at the mimic (attack 25, 23), her arrows piercing for 18 damage. Gobbles double Confetti Eldritch Blasts the mimic (attack 11, 11) but his confetti does no damage.
Lysithea: Kill it with fire!
Lyisthea shoots a Fire Bolt at the mimic (attack 19), hitting it for 19 damage. Professor attempts to shoot the mimic in the face with his crossbow (attack adjusted 20). He hits the mimic right between the eyes for 7 damage.
Professor: Put me down!
The mimic releases Professor as it falls down, dead.
Lysithea: This place keeps getting worse and worse!
Professor: I hate this place!
Lysithea: I agree!
With the mimic now defeated Lysithea tries to Mage Hand open the other ornate box, but it is sealed. Professor approaches the box, and Gobbles scurries out of the way. (Professor sleight of hand 21) Professor is able to figure out where the mechanism is to open the box and pops it open. Inside the box is a switch.
Professor: What does this button do?
Professor flips the switch. Another wall on the other side of the outcove disappears to reveal a chest.
Lysithea: Alright, who’s going to poke the chest?
Octavia: Not it!
Surina cautiously approaches the chest.
Professor: Here, use this!
Professor hands Surina his Wand of Secrets, which can be used to detect traps. Surina graciously accepts the wand. She activates the wand, which glows and the lock mechanism on the chest lights up. Professor takes out his Thieves’ Tools and tries to safely disarm the lock. Gobbles sings him a little jingle about popping and locking to provide some bardic inspiration. Professor (sleight of hand 16) is just able to unlock the chest, disarming and opening the chest. This would have been a thundering blast trap. Inside the chest is a sword.
Professor: Oh my goodness. Dragonborn, come take a look at this! Sailor Moon!
Surina reaches into the chest and grabs the sword. The sword alights with fire as she lifts it up. Surina now has a Flametongue Sword, which she can alight and extinguish with a command word. Surina hears the command words in her head, which she then exclaims.
Surina: Goodbye forever!
The flames go out, and Surina tucks the sword away. She then hops around in a circle, expressing her joy and delight.
Lysithea: So…Who wants to knock on the other door?
Gobbles: How big is the chest? I want to take that with us.
Lysithea: You mean the one with the switch in it?
Gobbles: What, you don’t want a switch chest?
Lysithea: We have a chest of infinite cheese. Why would we need another chest?
Gobbles: Yes, but now we could have a chest with one switch!
Octavia walks over the other door, which is now unlocked, and opens it (perception 17). The room is completely empty and ends with a dead end.
Octavia: Cool. All doors open, besides the gate, all stuff collected. I am not going to be mimicked into the floor.
Gobbles grabs the switch chest and tosses it into the room (athletics 17, perception 13). The chest lands on the other side of the room. When it hits the ground the floor shakes a bit and makes a hollow sound. Gobbles then takes one of the statues and pushes it into the room, expecting a pitfall trap to be activated. The statue now stands in the room.
Gobbles: Does anyone have rope?
Lysithea: We all have rope.
Gobbles: Oh wait! I have infinite rope!
Gobbles ties one end of his Rope of Mending to his waist and the other to the doorway and begins to run around the room, poking every inch of wall and floor possible. Hitting the walls Gobbles hears another *click*, but he continues to explore the area where the chest landed. The floor becomes hollow as he approaches the far end of the room.
Gobbles: I need a bearded adult that knows about stone stuff!
Professor: Hm, hrgh? I heard my name.
Gobbles: There’s a floor that seems less floory than it should be.
Professor enters the room and checks the floor, while Gobbles exits the room and unties himself. (Investigation stonecunning 17) The floor in this area can be lifted.
Gobbles: We got free floor!
The floor, however, is too heavy for Professor to lift.
Professor: Somebody decided to move a statue onto this floor and I can’t lift it!
Lysithea: Surina! Go lift the floor.
Surina: You mean this floor? (athletics Nat 20)
Surina one-handedly lifts the floor, just as easily as she moved the boulder in one of the previous rooms. Underneath is a storage area, with just a collapsible ladder inside. Exiting the room they see that when Gobbles poked the wall the gated door lifted open.
Lysithea: And this is why if anyone is going to get us killed it’s going to be Gobbles. Because he actually does things good.
Gobbles: 60% of the time it works every time.
Surina prepares to march through the gated door, but at the end of the hallway the jackal form appears.
Surina: Are you a projection or the real guy?
Jackal: Unfortunately I am still just projecting. No full power yet, but!…
He slams his staff onto the ground and 2 Eldritch Blasts fire out, one aimed at Surina and one at Gobbles. Surina takes 7 damage, and Gobbles takes 4.
Jackal: Have fun in this hallway!
He fades out into a poof of sand.
The Hallway
Lysithea: So, we should probably check for traps.
Surina waves the Wand of Secrets, and a square in the hallway begins to glow.
Octavia: Okay, so we know where the first trap is. Who is going to saddle the wall with me?
The party is highly suspicious of the hallway and observes as much as possible before setting foot inside. On the walls are paintings of a dancing jackal, first on the left side of the hall, then on the right. The images are bouncing across the walls, about every 15 feet.
Lysithea: So maybe we need to dance along to those, but that seems too easy. Who is going to lead the way?
Octavia: Shall we dance? 1, 2, 3, and…
Gobbles decides to lead the way. He charges into the room, doing an obnoxiously silly dance, following the paintings on the walls. He dances 15 feet on the right, then 15 on the left. When he switches back to the right (dexterity save adjusted 20) the floor opens, but Gobbles successfully leaps forward out of the way (dexterity save 12). He lands on the floor directly in front of him, but the second pitfall trap activates and Gobbles falls onto spikes, taking 10 damage.
Gobbles: Hello, can anyone up there hear me?
Lysithea: Yes.
Gobbles: I’m bleeding some of my blood.
Octavia: Some?
Gobbles: A lot.
Lysithea enters the hallway next, following the initial safe pattern that Gobbles took; however, she can’t quite make it to Gobbles yet.
Gobbles: Hello Lysithea. Can you toss me a book? I might be down here for a while.
Lysithea: Which one would you like?
Gobbles: I mean, I can’t read so it’s not too big of a deal.
Lysithea: Would you like to learn how to read?
Professor: Okay, what if, Gobbles stick with me here, we tie that magic rope around you and just send you down the hallway and we can all just prepare to catch you if you start another trap?
Gobbles: I like it. We should get that ladder, though.
Professor: I got it!
Professor grabs the collapsible ladder and makes his way down the hallway, taking the exact same path as Gobbles. He can’t get all the way there, so he passes the ladder to Lysithea. Surina decides to wait in the doorway, prepared to hold the rope to support Gobbles. Octavia follows Professor into the hallway, following the same squares they know are safe. While waiting for the ladder to climb out, Gobbles begins pressing on the walls and touching all of the spikes. He notices that the spikes are very clean, or at least they were until he fell on them. Lysithea lowers the ladder into the hole and Gobbles begins to climb out. Before exiting completely he ties the rope to himself, just in case he’s about to climb out into another hole, and the party passes the other end of the rope to Surina. He climbs out (dexterity save 14) and activates yet another pitfall trap, but he is able to leap out of the way onto solid ground. Lysithea pulls the ladder out after Gobbles it safely up. He takes a step forward, and then another step forward onto a mechanism that activates another trap. A bolt of lightning shoots from the wall straight at Gobbles (constitution saving throw 12), electrocuting him for 7 damage.
Gobbles: *singing* I need an adult!
Immediately after the lightning bolt the floor panels close up and lock in place with a *click*. The traps have been reset. Lysithea, thinking that the traps have not only reset but have also moved, steps onto the floor space where the first pitfall trap was.
Lysithea: It’s for science.
The floor is solid. She steps where the next trap was onto more solid, firm ground. She takes one more step… solid ground.
Lysithea: I hate this place. Wait.. Why am I going first? I’m going to wait here.
Professor follows Lysithea’s lead, stopping just behind her. Surina finally moves into the hallway, managing to stay on solid ground. Octavia follows after Surina, stopping diagonally behind her. Gobbles casts Cure Wounds on himself, healing for 14 health. He takes a step, and then another, and then another. He makes it to the far end of the hall where it makes a right turn. All he can see at the end of the turn is a dead end. He takes another step, but then decides to take a step backwards… (wisdom saving throw 2). An eye opens right in front of him…
Gobbles: Eye don’t like that.
… and flashes, frightening Gobbles. In his fear, Gobbles runs away from the eye, running in a straight line towards Octavia.
Gobbles: I saw an eyeball!!!
When he steps directly in front of her (reflex saving throw Octavia 25, Gobbles 13) a jet of fire shoots in a straight line at them. They each take 5 fire damage from the blast. *Click* The eyeball closes and the traps reset.
Gobbles: I’m discovering and disarming all of the traps!
Very cautiously the party makes their way through the rest of the hallway, but no more traps are activated. They arrive at the dead end after turning the corner and begin to search for a way out. They feel a stream of air blowing from above them, but looking up they see only ceiling. Gobbles grabs the ladder from Lysithea, climbs up and begins poking the ceiling. He finds a false panel and opens it.
Gobbles: Yeah, now we get to keep floor and ceiling!
Gobbles climbs through the opening into a very short hall leading to another room.
Gobbles: Hey guys, I found a place!
Lysithea: Is it a place for us?
Gobbles: It is now!
Surina climbs up after Gobbles and heals him for 15 health using Lay On Hands. The rest of the party climbs up the ladder into the small hall and enters the next room. The form of the jackal suddenly reappears.
Jackal: Nice job so far. *winks* More fun and goodness!
He bangs his staff on the ground and Surina feels a collection of undead as the jackal fades out. A zombie clot takes form in front of the party’s eyes. There is a collection of horror and gagging coming from the party as the clot finishes taking shape.
The Zombie Clot
Gobbles charges forward, gulping as he lays his eyes on the horrific clot, and casts Chill Touch (attack 12). A necrotic hand reaches out and touches the zombie clot for 2 damage. Lysithea keeps her distance, hugging the back wall, and fires Scorching Ray at the disgusting clot (attack 18, 22, 21). All three rays hit for 25 fire damage as Lysithea screams and tries not to vomit from the sight of the clot. Professor hangs back by Lysithea and fires his crossbow (attack 16), hitting for 9 piercing and 2 fire damage. He then follows Lysithea’s lead and casts Scorching Ray (attack 13, 17, 10). Two of the rays hit for 25 more fire damage. Professor’s homunculus servant enters the room…
Professor: Get him, my boy!
… and rushes to attack the clot (attack 14), hitting for 5 damage.
Surina: Goodbye forever!
Surina’s new sword ignites as she rushes in and lunges at the clot (attack 24). Her fire sword pierces the clot for 9 piercing and 7 fire damage. She stabs again (attack 18) and activates Divine Smite, for 7 piercing, 10 fire, and 3 radiant damage.
Surina: Goodbye forever!
Surina’s sword extinguishes as the zombie clot goops down, defeated.
Octavia: Some mini-boss!
Lysithea: That was so gross…
Gobbles casts Prestidigitation and cleans up some of the corpse mess on the floor so that the party can get through.
What other horrors await the party in the tomb of the jackal? End Session.

Spotlight on Another Player:
- Miranda: Kevin for gung-hoing the whole thing and taking every trap dead on.
- Liz: Cordelia because she has that rad new sword! Plus she’s been a lot more expressive today.
- Kevin: Cordelia because in that first room she was purposely not going near the crates, very strategically avoiding the mimics.
- Ian: Miranda for getting Lysithea in all the stuff and getting hit. Taking one for the team, charging forward as you don’t usually do.
- Cordelia: Kevin for jumping on the first statue.
- Justice: Ian for going all out with the artificer role, knowing his character that well having a homunculus flying around.
Challenge/Something Learned:
- Miranda: I learned to let Surina knock on doors.
- Liz: I learned to watch where I step.
- Kevin: That I have featherfall as a reaction that I probably should have used.
- Ian: I could have just used my homunculus servant and have it walk forward the whole time. My son can go first. I didn’t even think of it till all the traps were set off.
- Cordelia: I learned what a mimic is.
- Justice: Making something that’s not too complex puzzle wise and not too deadly.
Hope or Prediction for Next Session:
- Miranda: I’m really looking forward to the boss fight. I hope it’s not anti-climatic.
- Liz: I hope we get there in time before he’s fully powered up.
- Kevin: I anticipate that we are going to defeat the Jackal and we’re going to end the threat here and it’s not Ganondorf in the Forest Temple.
- Ian: If this is just the first level, what’s going to happen on the second level?
- Cordelia: I want to use my new sword more.
- Justice: That the final boss fight isn’t anti-climatic, but I made sure it’s not.
Analysis: This session introduces the concept of mimics to Cordelia. Her father was very satisfied with the results of the encounter, with Cordelia now being suspicious of everything we come across. We could tell she was having fun because she was extremely vocal this session. Before when she would act in character she would mumble under her breath, but today she was making full exclamations, being loud, and even doing a voice. Her confidence has grown so much!
